Work > Peaceful and Wrathful Deities

"Peaceful and Wrathful Deities" is a collection of objects produced as part of an ongoing investigation into impermanence. Inspired by contemplative traditions, in particular The Tibetan Book of the Dead, I am motivated by the conviction that reflection on mortality is necessary for sustainable living and peace.

These objects begin with the relic of a creature that is enshrined using a variety of materials ranging from metals to wood to glass to stone. These images are from the exhibition "Imminence: Ana England and
Steven Finke" at the Weston Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio, September 20 through December 1, 2013.
